Mtivah Walter Mbaja

Walter is a Humanitarian Assistance Specialist with extensive international experience in complex humanitarian emergencies, garnered from working in the Horn of Africa, Central & West Africa, and Middle East. He has over 14 years hands-on experience in humanitarian action programming, emergency preparedness, emergency relief management, early recovery and rehabilitation efforts, and development programs. He is also a certified Program Development Professional (PMD Pro).

Walter began his career in humanitarian action with World Vision-Kenya as a Development Motivator in 2004. He then moved the South Sudan to work with Save the Children Federation Inc. USA as an M&E Officer in 2006. He returned to Kenya after three years to work with Feed the Children as a Development Projects Coordinator for two years, and afterwards joined World Vision-Somalia as an expatriate Partnerships Manager in South Central Somalia for a period of three and half years. He later spent five years in West Africa working with Samaritan’s Purse International Relief as a Regional Program Development Officer covering three countries (DR Congo, Liberia, and Niger). He is currently working with ADRA-Yemen as a Business Development Coordinator. His duty station is Sana’a, Yemen.

He holds a BA in Integrated Community Development from Daystar University, Kenya, and an MA in Humanitarian Assistance from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University in Massachusetts, USA.

Walter is a voracious reader of books especially memoirs and theological stuff; he loves classical music to pieces, and he enjoys spending time with his family.
