Brian Barnett

Brian is a software architect with over 30 years' experience in software development and design.  He caught the software development bug in his senior year of high school, working for a payroll software company, and it has never left him. He has experience in several different industries, software consulting, and software companies, even spending several years working for Microsoft. 

He received a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University.  He lives in Valdosta, GA with his wife Michelle.

He's known Bethany and Sherwood for many years now, working with and supporting the children's home organization they were a part of for 11 years in Kenya.  He has never been to Kenya but his heart has been several times because all three of his kids have spent summers with the Griggs' family in Kenya, and one of his daughters has been four times.  Through the many stories from his kids and the Griggs, he has become deeply familiar with the culture of the Nyanza area and has developed a love for the people and a desire to help them in any way God leads and allows him to. 

Brian loves exercising, walking his two very spoiled German Shepard/Lab mixes named Luke and Leia, cooking, traveling, relaxing on the beach, reading, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and spending time with his family.

He is excited to be a part of the great Anaweza team and is looking forward to seeing the many ways God uses the ministry to transform the lives of the people in Kenya as well as in his own life.  He is humbled to get to be a part of it and ultimately, more than anything, wants to see Jesus known, lifted up, and glorified through everything that is done.
